FC Nantes has joined the eFootball.Pro league, thus becoming the sixth and final club to field a team for the competition’s inaugural season. As a founding member of this new, international esports league consisting only of football clubs, FC Nantes is now one of a half dozen teams that will participate, along with FC Barcelona, Schalke 04, AS Monaco, Celtic FC, Boavista FC and FC Nantes. The eFootball.Pro League will be played using KONAMI’s Pro Evolution Soccer video game.
“FC Nantes, by embarking on PES and participating in this competition, continues its expansion in esports,” said Franck Kita, the CEO of FC Nantes. “We are delighted to compete against such prestigious clubs and to be at the forefront of eFootball.Pro. Already present on several games, this confirms the will of the club to position itself as an important player in this sector and share this passion with our fans.”
Gerard Piqué, the eFootball.Pro founder and president, said, “We are delighted to complete the eFootball.Pro League’s first edition with Nantes. It is a historically distinguished club, and a reference point in the French league. We hope that they will be as tenacious in esports as they have been throughout their history in football.”
Also weighing in was Masami Saso, the president of Konami Digital Entertainment B.V. “It is a great pleasure to be welcoming another prestigious club to this new and exciting competition,” he said. “We look forward to working with FC Nantes to continue to drive esports forward. Now that we have completed the line-up for this season, we at KONAMI are looking forward to a fantastic competition.”
The eFootball.Pro League opens play on December 2. Before that, however, on November 25, all the details of the competition will be unveiled, including the names of the players competing on all six teams and the format. Both the league presentation and the league itself can be followed live on the eFootball.Pro Twitch and YouTube channels.
