eFootball.Pro and KONAMI create esports competition

The companies have reached an agreement to help professionalise electronic sports football

The esports company eFootball.Pro and the Japanese video game giant KONAMI have reached an agreement to create a new, international electronic sports league that will be broadcast around the world.

Gerard Piqué, the eFootball.Pro president and FC Barcelona player, said that “the goal is to drive everything that makes traditional football the king of sports, towards electronic football, towards esports. We want to bring together the best of both worlds to give the public a new model of entertainment that they have loved since the first day.”

The competition will be played using KONAMI’s football video game series. “eFootball.Pro’s unique position in eSports, combined with its strong football leadership, will allow us to deliver a fresh way for customers to enjoy our products,” highlighted Hideki Hayakawa, Representative Director and President of Konami Digital Entertainment Co., Ltd. “We are thrilled to collaborate with eFootball.Pro.”

Together with the alliance between eFootball.Pro and KONAMI, and following the project’s global vision, the Chinese company Desports will play an important role in expanding this new esports competition in China.
